New Drone Flight
We went outside during class and flew a drone on the band field. This drone was the Mavic 2 Pro and the Mavic Air and was capable of performing a lot of cool things. We were able to fly in the air a little below 400 feet because you need a drone license to go above 400 feat to avoid commercial air traffic. Also, we took photographs and shot videos with the awesome camera on it. There was also a mode that you would be followed by the drone as you or walked around or ran.
You can also use your hands to control the drone by using specific hand movements to make it go up, down, left, right, etc.

Cybersecurity Project: Russian Gas Line Hack 2020
Overview
The attack happened in May of 2021. The hack that took down the largest fuel pipeline in the U.S. and led to shortages across the East Coast was the result of a single compromised password, according to a cybersecurity consultant who responded to the attack. The shutdown affected consumers and airlines along the East Coast. The hack was deemed a national security threat, as the pipeline moves oil from refineries to industrial markets. This caused President Joe Biden to declare a state of emergency. Quote: “The May 2021 attack on Colonial Pipeline — thought to be the largest successful cyberattack on oil infrastructure in U.S. history — led the Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration to issue the first mandatory cybersecurity standards for pipelines, after years of relying solely on voluntary guidelines. But Democratic lawmakers, regulators and cybersecurity experts say those standards don’t go nearly far enough, and fall short of the binding standards that the U.S. electricity sector has spent years developing.”
How and How to Prevent
Attackers got into the Colonial Pipeline network through an exposed password for a VPN account, said Charles Carmakal, senior vice president and CTO at the cybersecurity firm Mandiant, during a hearing before a House Committee on Homeland Security on June 8. The attack involved multiple stages against Colonial Pipeline IT systems. The pipeline's operational technology systems that actually move oil were not directly compromised during the attack. The attack began when a hacker group identified as DarkSide accessed the Colonial Pipeline network. The attackers stole 100 gigabytes of data within a two-hour window. Following the data theft, the attackers infected the Colonial Pipeline IT network with ransomware that affected many computer systems, including billing and accounting. The attack can be prevented in the future by upgrading cyber security and monitoring their servers more often because it only took a few minutes for the Russian hackers to have access to the whole system.
Data Specifics
Nothing was stolen during the hack, but fuel supplies to the U.S. Southeast were disrupted which led to gas prices skyrocketing. The hackers (Darkside) were bought off with an estimated 75 bitcoin, or about $3 million.
Data Privacy / Security / Storage Concern
They show that even the most secure of servers can be hacked. Quote: “The Russian invasion of Ukraine has only exacerbated fears of a cyberattack on critical energy infrastructure. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm urged energy executives last week to prepare “to the highest possible level” for a potential cyberattack from Russia.”
